Twins

It was just another day when I found something that changed everything. I was cleaning out my mom's old things in the attic when I came across an old family photo album. Most of the photos were from my childhood—birthdays, holidays, and family trips. But one photo caught my attention.

In the picture, my parents were holding two babies. One of them was me, but the other baby was a girl I didn’t recognize. She looked like me—same dark hair, same eyes—but I had no memory of her. I couldn’t understand why I had never seen her before.

I decided to ask my aunt, the only family member I could reach. When I showed her the picture, her face changed. She seemed uncomfortable, almost scared.

“That’s your twin sister,” she said softly. “Her name was Emily.”

I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. I had a twin sister? How could I not know? My aunt explained that Emily had disappeared when we were just babies. She said it was a tragic event, something no one ever spoke about, but no one ever told me about her.

I felt a mix of shock and confusion. I had to know more. I started asking other family members, but no one would tell me anything. The more I pushed, the more distant they became. It was like they were hiding something from me.

Determined to uncover the truth, I went to the old house where we grew up. I wanted to see if I could find anything that might explain what happened to Emily. As I searched through the rooms, I found a locked drawer in my mom’s old desk. I managed to open it, and inside, I found a stack of letters, some from people I didn’t know. The letters were about Emily’s disappearance. They said she had been taken from her crib one night, but there were no signs of a break-in. It was as if she had just vanished.

As I read through the letters, one name kept appearing—“Mr. Blackwell.” I had never heard of him before, but the letters suggested he had something to do with Emily’s disappearance. It was clear that my family had been hiding the truth about what happened that night.

The more I dug into the past, the more I realized something terrifying. My family was hiding something much darker than I could have imagined. The night Emily disappeared, there were whispers of strange people coming to the house, and there were rumors of a secret that had been kept hidden for years.

I felt like I was getting closer to the truth, but the more I learned, the more danger I seemed to be in. I couldn’t shake the feeling that someone didn’t want me to find out what happened to Emily. And the closer I got to the truth, the more I started to wonder if Emily’s disappearance wasn’t just an accident, but something far worse.

As I continued to search for answers, I realized one thing: I couldn’t trust anyone in my family. They had kept the secret for so long, and now, it seemed like they would do anything to keep it buried.

But I wasn’t going to stop. I had to find out what happened to my twin sister. Even if it meant uncovering secrets that could change everything I knew about my family—and myself.
