If someone collapses, stops breathing, or has no pulse, what you do in the next 2 minutes can decide if they live or die.
You don’t need to be a doctor.
You just need to know what to do.
Here’s how to perform CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) — step by step, even if you’ve never done it before.
🚨 Step 1: Check for Response
Shake the person gently.
Shout: “Are you okay?”
If no response, immediately call or ask someone to call 112 (India) or 911 (USA).
💨 Step 2: Check Breathing
Look at the chest — is it rising?
Listen for breathing.
If no breathing or only gasping, start CPR.
🫀 Step 3: Chest Compressions (Hands-Only CPR)
This is the most important part.
Place the heel of one hand on the center of the chest (between nipples).
Put your other hand on top and interlock fingers.
Keep arms straight, shoulders above hands.
Push down hard and fast, at least 2 inches deep.
Do 100–120 compressions per minute — like the beat of:
“Stayin’ Alive” (Bee Gees)
Or “Baby Shark” (for real)
👉 Let chest fully rise between compressions.
⏱️ Keep Going Until:
The person starts breathing or moving
A defibrillator (AED) is available
Emergency help arrives
⚡ BONUS: If You’re Trained in Full CPR
After 30 compressions:
Give 2 rescue breaths (tilt head, lift chin, pinch nose, breathe into mouth)
Then repeat: 30 compressions, 2 breaths
But if you’re unsure?
👉 Stick to chest compressions. They save lives.
🚑 Final Thought:
Every minute without CPR = 10% less chance of survival.
Don’t wait. Don’t panic. Just push hard and fast.
You might feel scared. But doing something is always better than doing nothing.
You can save a life. Right now.
